A sheet of blue glass water at 900m above sea level, with its own native inhabitants, the INTHA people who live on stilted homes built on the lake with their stunning floating gardens, floating markets, floating villages, busy fishing canoes, unique leg-rowers, silk-weaving home-industries, Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and the famous Ngaphe Chaung Monastery also known as Jumping Cat Monastery, where a dozen cats living in the monastery have been trained by the monks to jump through a ring on call. Inle is one of the most charming places in Myanmar exhibiting a colorful array of magnificent scenery and interesting cultural life. In the surrounding hills is Kalaw, a pleasant holiday resort since colonial times, where the atmosphere is dominated by the scents form pine forests. The Pindaya caves located close by are also famous for its collection of over 8000 statuettes made from cement, alabaster, lacquer, teak and bricks representing the Buddha in as many dimensions.
